What's New11 November 2008 - Preparation Rationale and Methodology Report Council considered a report outlining the rationale and methodology associated with the preparation of the new Local Environmental Plan for Ballina Shire at its Ordinary Meeting held on 23 October 2008. In considering the report, Council resolved to forward working draft LEP material to the Department of Planning and seek certification to enable public exhibition of a draft LEP when ready. As outlined below, Council recently undertook an intensive community engagement process to gather a snapshot of information from the community in relation to LEP policy issues. The outcomes of the Forum process were presented to the Council at its Ordinary Meeting held on 22 May 2008. The Community Policy Forum Outcomes Report provides an overview of the process undertaken and the feedback provided by the participants. Council undertook an intensive community engagement process with a cross section of community representatives during April. The Community Policy Forum sought to gather a snapshot of opinions, advice and suggestions from the community relating to key policy issues associated with the themes of towns and villages, rural landscape and employment and industry. The outcomes of the Forum process will be reported to the Council in the near future for consideration in relation to the LEP Renewal process. 16 October 2007 - LEP Renewal Discussion Paper Exhibition Council will be considering the LEP Renewal Discussion Paper exhibition (12 July - 7 September 2007) and submissions received at its Ordinary Meeting on 25 October 2007. 12 July 2007 - LEP Renewal Discussion Papers Council has prepared a series of themed Discussion Papers to support the preparation of the new LEP for Ballina Shire. The Discussion Papers are a key element of the new LEP's preparation as they identify, explore and analyse key issues for the shire in a planning context. The Discussion Papers can be viewed and downloaded here. 28 November 2006 - Invitation to Participate Council encourages interested individuals and groups to participate in community engagement activities for the new Ballina Shire LEP. Council also welcomes general comments or discussion. Further details are available here. 31 October 2006 - Community Engagement Opportunities Council is now inviting individuals and groups to indicate their interest in participating in the first phase of community engagement for the preparation of the new Ballina Shire Local Environmental Plan (LEP). This phase will assist Council prepare various Discussion Papers that will provide direction for the new LEP. Community Engagement Registration 31 October 2006 - Project and Issues Discussion Paper Released Council has prepared a Discussion Paper outlining the LEP renewal process and identifying issues for consideration. The Paper forms part of the first phase of community engagement for the project.
